Surround Sound Discovery – Smoke’s Artifacts

Many believe that it was Disney that created surround sound in the 1940s.  The truth however, is that true surround sound was created by Smoke himself.  It was this very Boombox that was instrumental in its creation.  It was late September 1987 and Smoke had just purchased two copies of the newest KISS tape, Crazy Nights.  He was trying to find out if the cover song, sounded better on his Boombox or his Walkman when by fortuitous accident he pressed play on both units at the same time.  Smoke immediately knew that the sound was golden and later sold the rights to his discovery, which he called surround sound, to Dolby… the rest is history
